Pointe Coupee Farmers Co-op strong and growing

The Pointe Coupee Farmers Co-op proved to be successful over the years, providing advantages, benefits and savings for all of them. The Co-op eventually moved to 5087 La. Hwy. 1 in Batchelor in 1968 and today, it continues in that same tradition. It’s still owned by a group of 300 stockholders and serves the tri-parish area of Pointe Coupe, Avoyelles, St. Landry Parishes and attracts customers from the Felicianas and surrounding areas. Lane RMC begins construction on radiation oncology center

At a recent Zachary Rotary Club luncheon, Frank Ragsdale reminisced about the day he met radiologist Dr. Will Russell. Ragsdale had just been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. “I sat in his office and cried and he hugged me and prayed with me,” said Ragsdale. “He and his staff were wonderful to me during my treatment.” Ragsdale, who ultimately won his cancer battle, credited the level of compassion he received from Dr. Russell along with his expertise as being a major comfort during his treatment. Ragsdale hopes those same qualities will be available when Lane Regional Medical Center begins to treat cancer patients later this year. Thanks to a joint venture, Lane Regional and Baton Rouge General are building...
